Time to celebrate! Isn't this little cutie just adorable? A simple card really, but I love how she looks all colored up to match this MME paper. I love her polka dot ribbons! I am entering this one in the challenge at Stamp Something this week where the theme is "girly". I think she is definitely girly! What do you think?

Hope you are having a great week! I am back from my trip, but rather tuckered. Trying to make this a quickie post as I spent my evening making Birthday invites for my eldest son so he can hand them out at school tomorrow - gotta get them delivered before March Break is in full swing! I will share them in a few days. They are done and my crafting space is a mess, but the mess can wait now that the invites are done! My bed is calling my name, rather loudly so I'm turning in,

EBTKS Challenge Challenge #10 - Fabric

I am cutting it close on this one! I was thrilled to hear that the challenge at Everything But the Kitchen Sink was fabric as I've been collecting different fun fabrics to use on my cards and layouts....however, I didn't get time until Sunday night to come up with a card. And, since I am out of town for work, I had to have the card completed, photographed and posted before I left early Monday. Needless to say, this was a quickie!

I am also entering this in the current challenge at KLSNS - to use buttons! I love buttons!

I'm not sure that I LOVE this card as I was feeling rushed when working on it and would have spent more time playing around if I'd had it (you know how you walk away for a bit, then come back, then you know if it is how it's meant to be...), but I do love the bright and cheery colors and it is always great to have another Birthday card in the stash.

Way to Go!

Happy Monday! What a fantastic weekend we had here in Northwestern Ontario! Beautiful - I'm talking 12 degrees above zero - weather! The snow is melting like crazy and the ice is gone from the sidewalks! My boys were so thrilled to dig the bicycles out of the back of the garage and go for a spin. We spent a good part of the day outside taking in the fresh air and getting good and dirty! Oh yeah, lots of mud - with warmer weather comes mud. :)
I'm back to work today, on the road for a couple of days, but managed to schedule some posts. Isn't Changito just so cute? I have several of these cuties, but don't use them as often as I should. I admit that is partly because I've always had trouble coloring them well. I finally played around with Flower Soft - this one I just got from DAT'S and is the ultra-fine version. By the way, my stitching is crooked on purpose - just in case you were wondering! lol

This is one of the cards I will be doing for my class at DAT'S on April 21st. Since this is a somewhat generic card, I will provide a few different sentiments to use. One of the things that is so fun about acrylic stamps is how you can manipulate them into slightly different shapes. I managed to "curve" my sentiment enough to fit in my circle appropriately. I was so happy when I realized this was going to work as I was having a hard time figuring out where to place my sentiment. To be truthful, I often find that the hardest thing when creating cards. I seem to get everything else laid out and then - oh no, where will I put that sentiment? Does anyone else have that problem or is it just me? Maybe it is just bad planning.

I went ahead and finished up the inside, leaving some room for a note if need be. I didn't use a sentiment on the inside since class participants will have a choice of which one to use on the outside. It's been a long time since I've taught a class - should be fun! I hope to have the second card made and posted next weekend.

I am entering this card in the challenge at The Townscrapper which is to make a card with a spring theme - which can include anything to do with warmer weather, outdoor activities etc. I thought this one fit nicely into the challenge. It isn't quite soccer weather yet, but it won't be too long!

Paper Sundaes Color Challenge!

This week at Paper Sundaes, we are having our first ever Color Challenge! We are challenging you to use the following colors in your creation:

Crystal blue, Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf and White

These are Close to My Heart colors, but you may use any other company so long as they fit the color scheme. Here is my card...

I had fun coloring this cutie from CC Designs and these colors seemed pefect to create a card with a spring feel. I couldn't resist adding Stickles to the eggs in her basket! My card fits the challenge over at Pals Paper Arts where they are looking for spring cards.

I am also entering this one over at Frosted Designs where they are asking us to use our favourite techniques - mine has to be stitching on my cards, and I've done it again on this one! Lately, very few make it to completion it seems with some stitching somewhere. :)

Happy Saturday! Woo hoo it's the weekend!

Today's card is one I made awhile back and didn't get around to sharing. You may notice the Christmas tree in the backgrouond - I guess you call this one a "bucket card" then - learned that one from you Kelley! I found Kelley's blog recently via Sarah's blog (one of my regular reads) and so glad I did. Both of these girls have talent and fun stuff ! (Stephanie and Caroline - this is the blog I was telling you about that you should check out.) I had been hunting for this Edwin with Guitar stamp from Magnolia for a long time before I finally found it.



This is the card I came up with. I actually based this card on the first ever sketch from Paper Sundaes. Don't forget to visit Paper Sundaes tomorrow to check out our new challenge and check out who won this week's prize. So, the funny part about this card... I made this one for my best friend's hubby. I adore the Magnolia stamps and I already knew that Donna wasn't a huge fan. Everyone has different tastes right and that's okay. What I didn't realize is that she actually finds them disturbing/scary, partly due to their lack of mouth. I had no idea about that -so it was kind of funny when her hubby opened his card and her reaction was a chuckle and oh no! I must admit that when I first met Tilda & Edwin I wasn't sure what to make of them, having no mouth and all - but they grew on me and it wasn't long before I was so in love!

So I'm curious - are you loving Tilda & Edwin or not so much?

I had some fun with the inside of this one too - we wrote our names in the "bubbles".

Wishing you a fantastic Saturday! Hubby is planning to take the boys tubing at the local ski hill this afternoon - woo hoo, that means a few hours of quiet and hopefully some time in my scrap space! I have been asked to be a "guest instructor" at my LSS - DATS's, in April and I need to design the cards for my class so that people can come to my blog to check them out when the classes are posted on Tuesday. This afternoon may well be my chance to do that. I also have to get cracking on my son's Birthday invites for later this month.

p.s. Apparently I am very long winded today! A few of you asked about Donna's scrap room. Aloha! - KLSNS Sketch Challenge

Okay, so obvioiusly I have been on a Basic Grey kick - not on purpose - the papers were just working with the sketches & images I've been wanting to use I guess....and I'm enjoying these fun, bright colors right now.... This is my entry for this week's KLSNS challenge which is a sketch. I had a little fun playing outside my comfort zone. I used a sticker as my main image! Gasp - I have such a hard time using stickers - but of course have tons of them! So, I played around using some of the stickers that came with my Lime Rickey papers and this is what I came up with. I actually did not stamp at all since the sentiment is a rub-on! Bright and cheerful - can't get enough of that this time of year! Everything is Basic Grey except the gingham ribbon and rub ons.

Hope you are all having a great Friday! My boys and I are going to an Open House tonight at my best friend's house (also our LSS owner)- she has been dreaming up the Ultimate Scrap Room for years and she finally has it completed! Tonight is the "unveiling" - should be a fun time!

Oakley says Happy Birthday

Happy Thursday! I pulled out of my funk last night and made a card! Hooray! This one is for the challenge at Double Dutch this week - "Boys only". Since I am outnumbered 3 to 1 by boys in my house, it is always good to have some masculine type cards hanging around in the stash. So, I pulled out Oakley and some scraps of Skate Shoppe by Basic Grey and got busy. Yes, Skate Shoppe is very old - I admit that I hoarded it for a long time before I actually cut into it!

I followed the sketch at Taylored Expressions (#102) with some slight alterations. I think maybe it is close enough? It is a great sketch and I know I'll use it again!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge - Week #13

Hi everyone,

I am sure in a "funk" this week! Thought I kicked it on Monday with a great day at work, but it came back again yesterday. Though I have not been creating, I do have cards and even a scrapbook layout to share, but just haven't felt like organizing a post! So, tonight I'm trying to pull it together and at least get something posted. It would probably do me a world of good to spend an hour or so in my scrap space once my boys are tucked in - we'll see. The possiblilty is good though since my hubby is at home tonight which is fairly rare with his work schedule. Since he cooked (woo hoo - BBQ steak!), I have to clean up, but if I get my post done quickly enough, I may just get the kitchen cleaned up before it's storytime - which means I may actually get time to craft after bedtime instead of spending all my quiet time cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes. Whew, apparently I am long-winded today!

Today's card is for Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge which is "open" this week. I love this cute image from Imaginisce. I had it for quite awhile before I finally inked it up, but I like it enough that I will probably end up making a few more of these for the Christmas cards stash. I have to admit that my favorite part about making this card was adding the stickles to that adorable heart! I am thrilled to say that I have completed 17 cards so far! I have never EVER been this ahead of the game for Christmas cards. I have not completely kept up with Sparkle's Challenge, but it sure is helping and I have a lot more fun making my Christmas cards this way!
