Hoot Valentines

Here is my project for the current challenge at Inspired By...

These were quick and fun to make which is a good thing since I need about 25 of them!!! A week or two ago, Doodlepants (my youngest son) asked me if I could make Valentines for his class. Neither of the boys has ever actually asked me to do this which is probably why I usually get the cheap store-bought kind since I know they end up in the garbage or recycle. So, when he asked at first I thought "Oh no" - but the fact that he asked in the first place really melted my heart and I told him I would see what I could do.

So, when Donna was over this weekend, I pulled out all my Valentines related stamp sets and played around. The goal, of course, was to come up with something that was a bit cute, a bit cool and quick but still "passable" in my eyes. I came up with three different versions and let him choose.I should say that these are designed flat like a traditional children's Valentine and he will write the back. I was in favour of the owl with the flower eyes, but Donna really liked the first with the wide-open eyes and thought that he somehow resembled Doodlepants. Well, guess which he picked, yep the first one!

I got about six done the first go round and I still have a little bit of time to play with - my goal is to NOT be stamping on Feb.13th! I kept telling myself that when I thought about adding this or that and managed to stop myself from making them more involved, cuz you know, it would be fun to add a little glitter, or texture....

And here is the inspiration photo at Inspired By this week:
