Enjoy the ride

 Hello!

First of all, I have news - many of you know that DAT'S has been closed due to the flood, well Donna is going to open the store up for one day (Tuesday) so that we can all stock up - here is the info:

DAT’S IS
OPENING FOR ONE DAY!!!

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

I don’t know when I will be re-opening the store.

I still don’t have a working furnace, hot water or electricity in my basement.

So I have worked out a day this week to give you a chance to stock up on essentials and to check out the new lines that I received just before the flood.

The debit/credit card machine is working.

Newer Items to the Store

~ Life is Good Canada Shirts, Hats & Mugs

~ Life is Good Summer Sports Balls
(Aqua Football, Aqua Volleyball, Aqua Soccer Ball, Golf Balls & More!)

~ BoBunny’s Camping Line

~ BoBunny’s Hello Sunshine Line

~ New Line of Inkadinkado Stamps

~ My Mind’s Eye New 6 x 6 Paper Packs

~ There may be a few other new products, but this is what I can recall.

Unfortunately, I still have not been able to get my Kraftin’ Kimmie order from the Post Office that they “tried” to deliver to me on the flood day, so I don’t have her April & May Release as of yet. Once I receive it, I will work out another day to open the store.

I hope you all had a great weekend! I managed to find time to make a card last night. This one is for the challenge over at Moxie Fab World - The Postage Challenge.

I had been wanting to play with this adorable paper pack from MME - Away we Go! I used a variety of other things new and old and even a sticker, gasp!

Gotta make this quick as I've still a few things to pack before I hid the road early tomorrow morning!

Have a great week!
Shanna :)

Time to smash

Saturday is here, thank goodness! Just sharing a couple of super quick Smash pages.

Yep, I went shopping with my sister back in April and we came across a display of Smash books. This is the "green" themed book (so me!) and I bought the baby themed one for my sis who is due next month with my first neice/nephew! (Can't wait to meet him/her when I go home in August!)

I am thinking of this book more like a photographic journal than scrapbooking, but either way it has been pretty fun! I am trying really hard to not think too hard and just cut, paste and write. Easier said than done!!!
Right, I hope you're having a great weekend! Hubby isn't working as much as usual this weekend, so we are looking forward to a "family day" tomorrow. I will consist mainly of yard work, doing laundry and packing for a very busy next couple of weeks, but that's okay since I won't be doing it alone!

Hugs,
Shanna :)

You must keep moving!

I LOVE this Stamping Bella stamp, but due to it's size I must admit that my first attempt at using it on a card was somewhat less than satisfactory. I am inclined not to share attempt number one, but here goes...

It was so fun and easy to paper-piece the little heart for added detail though.

I would like to share over at Cute Card Thursdays where the current challenge is "Here comes summer!"

My card is also for the current 100 th challenge celebration at The Paper Players - to choose a past challenge of your chose - my card is for #98 - Summertime. Please scroll down to my Tim Horton's card post to see more details about this fun celebration challenge!

Hooray, the weekend is almost upon us!

Always Fresh

This is my Dad's Father's Day card which is going to be a little late since Father's Day was yesterday! Sorry Dad!

I bought the "Go Canada" Cricut cartridge in part because of this cut, lol! My Dad loves his Timmie's! Medium double double and sometimes a double chocolate donut on the side. I just had to add the "newsprint" paper in the background since Dad can be happy pretty much anywhere if you give him a current newspaper and a hot Tim Horton's coffee! (comes in handy when the girls want to shop and we need Papa to keep an eye on the boys!)

I would like to share my card at The Paper Players where this week's challenge is to choose any of their former challenges because they are celebrating Challenge 100! I chose challenge #1 which was to make a Father's Day card or a masculine card. Though I've learned some new tricks and tried new ideas, making masculine cards continues to be a bit of a challenge, so I thought I'd play along.

Happy Monday!
Shanna :)

What I used:
papers: CTMH cranberry, Bo Bunny ETC., Kraft CS

What's Cookin'?

So have you ever had one of the experiences when you thought to yourself, "I feel like I am in a movie" or "this has to be a dream, a very bizarre dream?" Well, that's the sort of time we've been having over the past week or so (and especially the last couple of days) and let me tell you, it was a very scary/bizarre/infuriating sort of movie/dream! It is not appropriate to get into details, but I am just so thankful that it seems to finally be over/done/fini. Time to move on and hopefully leave it behind. A wise person once told me "This too shall pass." Thank goodness, it seems that has happened for us.Thanks so much to those who became part of our bizarre "dream" and offered their support, we are so thankful!

I am trying to break out of my funk. Since life has been throwing us curve balls, I have not had any time in my craft room for what seems like forever and I am having withdrawl. And, I have been so tired in the evenings which is when I usually try to take some time for myself in my craftspace, that I have not had the energy to get going on anything if an opportunity did arise. I've been either reading in the evening or going to bed instead.

I remembered; however, that I had this sweetie to share and sometimes sitting down and writing a post helps me "snap out of it". I made this one to go with the recipe album from the last post as my future sister-in-law's bridal shower gift. I adore this Stampin Bella stamp and had so much fun colouring her!

Well, I think my bed is calling my name, or is it my craft room...

A Bridal Shower gift for the kitchen

Long time no see. Yikes, life has been busy since I last posted - amongst other things, Thunder Bay was declared under a State of Emergency due to severe flooding almost two weeks ago - our city and surrounding areas have now been declared a Disaster Area. Thankfully our home is still dry, but not so for so many families. I've managed to fit in two work trips in two weeks. This last one meant almost an entire week away, it was a big one, but it went well. I am happy to be home, but I'm bushed and still trying to get into the groove.
Anyhow, this is the recipe album I created for my soon-to-be sister-in-law for her Bridal Shower. It has sort of become a family tradition beginning with my little sis a few years back. When I was married, my cousin Charlene had a "Pampered Chef" bridal shower for me and asked each guest to share one favourite recipe. She placed them all in a cute little photo album. I LOVED it and still find it so handy!

When I was planning my little sister's shower, I decided to do the same sort of thing and take it one step further. I covered the photo album with fun scrapbook paper and embellished. I stamped up recipe cards and mailed them with the invites and the request for the recipe. At the shower, I photographed each guest with the bride. I also asked each guest to write some "words of wisdom" on a pre-cut piece of CS to insert in between the recipe and the corresponding photo. You can sort of get the idea from the shot below. This particular album is for my almost sister-in-law whom I adore. She is an elementary school teacher, a musician, an artist and she loves to bake! This time, I must admit, I was a bit lazy and used store-bought recipe cards. However, they were perfect and inexpensive and saved so much time! The photo happens to be of myself and my sister and was not taken at the shower, but I added it to give you the idea.

I would like to share my project over at Inspired By. I am going with the baking/sweet aspects from the inspiration photo though my colour scheme is very different.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Shanna :)
