Hooray for sunshine!!!

Hooray!!! After pretty much two days straight of rain and cold (I'm talking, felt like October), the sun finally decided to shine today! Just in time for the Birthday Party my youngest was going to up the street at Danielle's, her youngest turned four - good thing since they got one of those cool bouncy castles!
This is the card I made for her using some fun Imaginisce paper. The brad and rub-on are also from that Imaginisce line. I used Cupcake Sprinkles from CTMH for the main image. I must admit, I have had this stamp set for some time and it had not yet seen ink (ummm, I suppose you could say that for a large number of my sets), but what counts is I knew I would have fun using it someday! CTMH colours I used are: Hollyhock, chocolate and blush.
I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! Here it is two more sleeps until back to school.....

Skater Boy

Yikes! I can't believe it's Thursday already - and I haven't posted since Sunday! I guess I've been busy trying to get back into the "swing of things" (read decluttering, organizing, sign ups for fall activities, organizing sitters, etc.) as, where we are, school starts on Tuesday! Around here, some people are rather miffed since it is a whole week earlier than usual and it just feels wrong for school to go back before labour day. I shouldn't complain as I know that some of you have gone back already....

About the card - I had a great deal of fun playing with my new stamps from Stamping Up! I used Extreme elements for the background and Extreme Skateboard for the focal point. The fun paper is a little piece from one of Bo Bunny's summer lines. I just love the faint grid pattern in the background! Have any of you played with Stamping up's new "spritzer" tool? Truth be told, I can't recall if this is the correct term as I don't have a catalogue nearby to check. Oh, how fun was this?!? The tool has a little air chamber and you slide a marker or copic in the little holder and squeeze the air chamber - voila, you have colored "spray" or splotches on your project! Okay, it is way more fun when you actually do it! I was actually using my friend Donna's and cannot wait to get my own! Inks used were CTMH: Dutch blue, orange, sunny yellow and cranberry. The Happy Birthday sentiment (one of my faves) is from CTMH's Birthday set.

Although this was a fairly quick and simple card with (yikes) only one layer (that was hard for me!), I really like how it turned out! Since I have two boys, I figure on making up a few to have on hand for all those last minute Birthday parties they get invited to. Never hurts to have some in your stash!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week #38

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! I have not been able to participate in Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge for a number of weeks now due to holidays and other stuff happening, but I am so thrilled to be able to post two cards today! I must admit though that I "cheated" a little... I actually made these cards last weekend and since Sparkle gave us the option to use the sketch or not, I thought I'd post them since I was going to post them sooner or later anyhow. Hope you all don't mind! :)
This past weekend, I got to scrapbook with Donna and amongst other things, I got the chance to try out her new "A Child's Year" Cricut Cartridge - Oh my goodness, I'm in love! I think this is the best one yet, not only does it have tons and tons of fabulous and breathtaking silhouettes, it also has a font! Now, I have had a Cricut for a long while now, but rarely use it for cards and have never actually purchased one mainly for use on cards, but this one is a MUST HAVE! I came home and told my hubby that I found my Birthday gift (still a couple of months away)! Anyhow, it was so much fun to play with this cartridge and I cannot wait to get my own! While I was playing with this, Donna was busy designing her upcoming Christmas Card Workshop for World Card Making Day at the LSS, DAT'S - wow, did she ever come up with some fun and fabulous cards!
This fabulous paper is from one of the new Bo Bunny Christmas lines, I'm loving it! The first sentiment is Stampin Up and the brads are Bo Bunny - had to have them since they matched the paper!
Well, on my last post, I mentioned that my boys were coming home. They arrived home late (read 10:30 pm, two hours past bedtime) Friday night, so I didn't really get to hang out with them until yesterday. We had a great day together with my Sis and her hubby. We went to the local Farmer's Market for some yummy stuff (always feels so good to shop local!) and then checked out a few more local shops before heading to Krazy Golf for a game of mini-putt. I actually got a hole in one! Okay, so three of us in a row got a hole-in-one on the same hole, I'm really not that good! We got home and did some tidying in the yard and garage and then my hubby made us a great steak and shrimp dinner - yummmmy! So, if that wasn't good enough, my sis and hubby introduced us to one of their favorite past-times - Sing Star! OMG, we had a blast! If you haven't tried it, it is like Karaoke but on a video game so you compete with another person or you can do "pass the mic" in teams - we haven't laughed so hard in a long time and didn't get to bed until 2:30 am! Yikes, it's been a long time since I've been up that late! Thanks for the good times Sis!
We are heading up the street to Danielle's at lunch time to attend a Charity BBQ in support of Women at the Helm, an annual Sailboat race to help raise funds for Cancer Research. My boys are looking forward to it, especially since they missed their friends while they were away. Enough rambling from me, hope you have a great Sunday!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

Happy Birthday Owl

Happy Friday! Here is another owl card. I saw the idea for using a real twig in an issue of Paper Crafts a few months ago and just had to try it out. When I finally got around to it, this is what I came up with. The papers are Basic Grey and I also added some Bella Bling. The owl is from CTMH's "You're a Hoot". I also used my sewing machine on this one as it seemed to need a little something.

My boys have been spending time with their Nannie & Papa as well as their Aunt and Uncles this last week and a half and from what I hear, they have been having a lot of fun! They fly back home tonight with my sister and brother-in-law. It was a nice little break (read very little cooking and half the laundry!), but we miss them and can't wait to see them tonight. It will be nice to have a visit with my Sister and brother-in-law as well since he has only been to our place once before.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Shanna

Happy Birthday from Edward

Now, if you are a follower of my blog, you probably kn0w that I recently discovered Twilight and became err, well a little Twilight obsessed. After reading the first in the Saga, I passed it on to Danielle who read the whole thing the first night! So, turns out it was a good read - and well, I think she might be a little more obsessed than me. (We're working on plans to get together and watch the movie soon since she just got it for her Bday!) How fun it has been though, to have this little (or you may say big - they are lengthy books after all) escape from reality - into a world where your man would do literally anything for you and you swoon at the mere thought of him. I love it when Bella talks about his velvet voice and his smouldering eyes, Meyer's descriptions allow me to picture everything so vividly, I feel like I'm right there. I am still astounded at how thoroughly I enjoyed these books! They are geared for Young Adults for goodness sakes - but nearly every woman I ask has read them all and loved every single minute of it. Many said, "Yeah my husband wondered what was wrong with me, I couldn't put it down." Or, "he begged me to stop reading and pay him some attention." I just cannot get enough, maybe I'll have to do like Danielle and read them all over again, it really was a wonderful escape. This time, I'm going to try reading to my hubby, I think it might help him appreciate why all the girls love Edward!
Okay, I know, on to the card. I better hurry - I told my hubby I was going to bed....
So, while I was away on holidays, my best friend Donna placed an order with The Greeting Farm without me - thank goodness she was willing to share Edward as I just had to make this card for Danielle whose Birthday was yesterday. I used paper from the new Bo Bunny Halloween line (credit to Donna here as she had the vision for this paper with Edward). Also thanks to Donna's prompting, I finally tried the technique for embossing brads as I wanted the square brads to match my sentiment. It is so quick and easy, I can't believe it took me this long to try it!
Edward is colored using my copics - I found his hair to be the biggest challenge, but I like how it came out. Bella describe's his hair as bronze, so that is what I was going for. For his hair, I used YR23 Yellow Ochre, E99 Baked Clay and E47 Sepia. His face is colored with my new BV0000 and outlined with a copic glitter pen that Donna loaned me to give his skin just a little shimmer - it is very subltle so you cannot see it in the photo. His pants are Grayish Violet BV25 and his Shirt is Black 100 and Viola BV01. I had so much fun coloring him that I decided to continue and make a book mark and this is the result. Well, Happy Birthday Danielle, it's been awhile since I had so much fun making a Birthday card!
Best hit the hay before hubby discovered me still up! Night, night,
Shanna

Baby Girl Thank you set

This is a set I made up for a baby gift awhile ago. You will have seen cards like these on my blog before, the details of what I used are here in an older post. I got the design from Ann's blog here. These were lots of fun to make too! I had the tin from a We R Memory Keepers class I did a couple of years ago at Scrapfest and it worked perfectly for this. It held a dozen thank you notes plus envelopes and a package of stamps. I also added a personalized tag with the baby's initials, but I took the photo before I had it on there.
It just so happens to be Danielle's Birthday, so stop on by to pay her a visit here. I have a card for her, but of course, I can't post it until I've given it her!
I'll be back soon,
Shanna

I was sewing again....

Remember me saying I was having some fun with my sewing machine? Well, this is another one I made while I was on a roll. Is this Tilda just adorable holding her Cowberry muffin? What looks like the background paper is actually two different fabrics sewn onto the card. I colored Tilda with my copics and had some fun finishing the inside of this one with some stamps from "From the Kitchen" by Stampendous. Another quick post tonight, I have some packing and unpacking to do. Happy Thursday!

Shower Bugg for a dear friend

Good evening! I am back from holidays and finally making a post! More about holidays later...
This Shower Huggabug from Stamping Bella is one of the wonderful stamps that my boys gave me for Mother's Day - aren't they the best? They have learned that the very best gift to give Mommy on any occasion (besides their hugs and kisses, of course), is stamps and scrapbooking stuff or scrapping time! They are smart boys... about the card...I colored Shower Bugg with my copics. The rub ons are from CTMH as well as the patterned paper in blush. The polka dot ribbon is Bo Bunny and of course, I had to add some Kaiser bling!

This card was sent to a very special lady who I used to work with. She is just the kindest and warmest person ever and, unfortunately, she is very ill. I know that she truly enjoys my cards as she usually will send of a quick little email to say that she rec'd it and enjoyed it. Well, a few months back, she stopped emailing me when she rec'd her cards and I knew then that she was feeling worse and that her battle has become more difficult. Since then, I've been trying to send cards more frequently, in the hopes that they will brighten her day and remind her that we are thinking about her. I'm hoping that this one will put a smile on her face.

Just a quick post for tonight. Hope to be back tomorrow evening with another. Cheers,

Shanna :)

You must think I've disappeared....

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your lovely comments. I have been enjoying a family vacation and didn't manage to get it together to organize posts beforehand. We've been all over the place - Marineland, Niagara Falls, Toronto Downtown, IKEA (woo hoo!), Rainforest Cafe and the boys have been able to spend a fair amount of time with their cousins and friends who they dont' see often, so it has been a great trip so far! Sorry for the lapse in posts... Although I did have some projects completed and photographed, I cannot access them from where I'm at and I've had limited access to internet. I promise to get some new posts up as soon as I'm back. I will be making the rounds and visiting when I return in a few days time. Until then, take care...

Oh, and I almost forgot - the new CTMH Fall/Winter catalogue is due to arrive today or Monday - you won't be disappointed, there are tons of new sets! I haven't been this excited about a catalogue in a long time....

Hugs,
Shanna

p.s. I got through the rest of the Twililght Series and thoroughly enjoyed it! I really hope she does publish that fifth book....
