March for Baby's album

Dear Krista,

Here is Graham's March page! I so hoped to get it done while you were here, but it was not meant to be. Here is a peek anyhow!

Hello everyone! This is the March page for my nephew's baby album. If you would like to see the rest or are interested in the story of how it started, just go the the search box and type in Graham's baby album.

I would like to share my layout at Inspired By - this is the current inspiration photo. It seems like sooo long since I've been able to play along! I didn't use an overabundance of pink since this is for my nephew, but some pink certainly snuck in there and of course the bunny and flowers along with a bit of texture.

I would also like to share at Raise the Bar where they are looking for us to use an image of a bunny, chick or baby animal.

Thanks so much for visiting!
Shanna :)

Celebrate Skateboarder

Helloooo! So everyone is talking about spring, except us it seems! We are still hoping to squeeze a couple more ski/board days out of the season. Shouldn't be too difficult with all the snow we've had lately combined with cold overnight temps. It's actually plus 2 C at the moment, but will dip down overnight. We were out today and the conditions were actually quite good. Conditions were the best all season during the March break which was nice since we took Auntie Krista skiing for the first time in about twenty years she figures and I got on my board again.
Yep, our friends think we are crazy doing the happy dance when it snows, especially in March, lol! Oh well, we decided a couple of years back to find a way to EMBRACE winter and it seems we've managed to do it. Pretty much the only time I find myself complaining about the weather in winter is when it is unseasonably WARM or raining! We figure on getting out once or twice more over the Easter weekend before the hill closes on April 1st.

Anyhow, I am slowly trying to regain some MOJO - seems to be a bit of a process, but I'm hoping that scrappin' with the girls tomorrow will give it a kick start! Meantime, here is a masculine/teen card I made a little while ago.

Enjoy your Saturday!
Shanna :)

Smile

Happy Wednesday! A quick CAS card to share today.

The prompt this week at CASology is "song". Here is my take. I bought this FAB washi tape on a little excursion with my sis while she was visiting last week and just had to play. I can see getting LOTS of use out of this one. Nope, my love of washi tape has not waned and now I seem to have my sister hooked!!! (insert evil enabler laugh...)

And here is the song it was inspired by, compliments of Rudy Vallee 1934 - "You Oughta be in pictures".

Thanks for stopping by!

Smashing Travel journal - installment two

It has been a really busy week. I had a feeling I wouldn't be hanging out in blog land very much and I was right. I finally shot a few more pics of my travel smash book. Here are the next few pages!

More photos from our first day, the travel day. For now, I just slid in postcards etc into the photo sleeves.

The view from the mountain tops were AMAZING and breathtaking! My favourite part of the whole trip was the fabulous views!

I was surprised to see a coffee bistro serving Starbuck's in the lobby of our hotel! Treated myself to a chai latte that first day we were there. The pic of the chair lift pole looks odd, but it is significant because of the sign. We were skiing that day at Sunshine Mountain (in Alberta) - that sign says "Welcome to beautiful British Columbia" and two poles later there is a sign that says "Welcome back to sunny Alberta" - too funny to go to BC and back on a chairlift, lol!

The photo of the boys in the hotel room playing on the bed was taken from the second story of our loft room, that is how I was able to take a photo from such an odd angle.

I will probably add some journalling to this last page. I thought it would be fun to add in trail maps of all the mountains we skied, this is the first one.

And last but not least, this is what has been keeping me busy this last week, besides doing stuff with my two boys who are on March Break and my sis who brought this guy to visit us! He is such a cutie patootie!

Have a fabulous day!

SMASH journal - installment one

Here are the first few pages of my completed SMASH journal from our trip to Banff, Alberta! (If you would like to see the first few pages completed before the trip, just scroll down a few posts.)I am so impressed how quickly these came together and how super FUN and sort of RANDOM it was! The secret seems to be based on about 3 things: 1) Do some prep (I counted out pages and numbered the days of the trip, added a few maps and stamped a few things here and there, added a few stickers and pockets for interest), 2) journal as you go (everyday if you can, and ask everyone to write something, even it if is quick, short and point-form 3) when home, print pictures in a variety of sizes (wallet size, 4x6, 2 up is especially good!) and stick em in and oh yes, DON'T THINK too HARD! Just do it!!!

First page of day one - lots of journalling as there was lots of hurry up and wait, lol! I was glad of something to do when waiting here and there. I should also say that this size journal worked well as it wasn't too cumbersome to fit into my backpack that I always carry on a plane. I also had a pencil case full containing a variety of coloured ZIG writers and four kinds of washi tape - just had to have it in there!

I have never, ever had so much fun using stickers!!! I do like stickers and some companies make fabulous stickers ( I have a pretty heft collection actually), but I hardly EVER use them!!! That is the other thing I did during the prep part, gather stacks of stickers, rub-ons and stamp sets that would relate in one way or another to my project. That helped when I was pulling it all together. It was FUN to be working on MANY pages all at the same time, I would flip back and forth, add a bit here, a bit there...so freeing and fun! I feel like this is really and truly "back to basics" scrapbooking with the main focus being on the journalling. Well, there is one way to have good, detailed journalling, do it in the moment! I will definitely be doing this sort of project again!

The boys wanted me to take photos of some of the fun displays at the airport. Hubby called me GEEK - so I am, 'bout time he realized it, lol!
If you actually read the journalling, you will see that our skis did not arrive in Calgary with us, but went on to Edmonton before returning just in time for us to catch our shuttle to Banff! Maybe that long wait for the shuttle was a good thing!
Oops, missed a page, will add next post. Here is the first page of day two, the first day skiing!

That's all for tonight, hope to photograph some more pages in the next couple of days. Forgive me if I'm scarce in the visiting department for a bit longer as my sister is arriving with my sweet nephew tomorrow morning! Can't wait to see the both of them. Tomorrow is also officially the last day of school before March break!!! The boys are pumped!

Better run,
Shanna :)

Life's a journey

Here is a quick masculine card I made awhile back while helping a friend get acquainted with some card-making basics. I very old CTMH stamp set. Good one to have in the stash!

Just a quick post, I am lacking in the energy department. Good news is that I will soon have some posts to share of my travel SMASH journal. It hasn't taken that much work since we've returned since I did some prep before we left, we journalled as we went and stuck stuff in here and there as we collected it! It has been such a fun project, can't wait to share it!

Merry Christmas

Today's card is for the challenge at Christmas Card Challenges. This is a fave sketch (unscripted #191) that you may recognize from other posts.

Still have a bit of unpacking to do. Slowly recovering from the time change. I was sooo tired yesterday after we went skiing that I had to take a power nap at 6 pm!!! lol   Needless to say, I went to bed early, and slept like 11 hours! I guess I needed it. Starting to feel a little more like myself, thank goodness!

Happy Sunday!

more photos from Banff

One more shot from Sunshine Village

Banff Springs Hotel - we were a five minute walk from this view point across the river. It was a bit of a walk into town, but a beautiful view the entire way and the weather was fantastic!

The Bow River

During the conference, we were provided our meals in the Vistas dining room - it had an amazing view!
Chester has taken to making silly faces in purpose...
Chester at the climbing gym - we all gave it a try - it was soooo fun! Now we just have to figure out where to climb at home!

These are from the day that Doodlepants and I explore around town in Banff while hubby and Chester skiied Kicking Horse in BC. We got a real kick out of this delivery vehicle. Yoshi was purchased at one of the local shops. Doodlepants was thrilled as he is a BIG fan (he was Yoshi for Halloween - see his homemade costume here) but has only a pink Yoshi at home. Yoshi spent the day riding in my backpack, looking out at the view or riding in my son's jacket. He was treated to both a Booster Juice and a candy apple, lol!

Booster Juice was a big hit with the boys and it was a great place to go when we needed a snack but not a meal.

More skiing photos to follow - we were originally going to spend four days total (two weekends) skiing at Sunshine, but since Doodlepants found the mountain too much for him, we rejigged and rearranged, you know "divide and conquer". In the end, we covered four mountains
we all did Sunshine
Hubby and Chester did Mt. Norquay & Kicking Horse
and Chester and I did Lake Louise on our last day
Chester managed five days of skiing out of the deal - I don't know how he does it!

We are heading out shortly to hit the slopes locally,
Ciao!
Shanna :)
