Daddy's Lil' Girl

I was pondering an idea for my Dad's Father's Day card and was lacking inspiration until I thought of a couple of cards that Donna made recently featuring old photos. Once I got going, this was so much fun to make! I hope my Dad is going to love it too!

In my mind, my Dad looks much the same as he did way back then (maybe a little less Hippie) and he still has a tendency to wave when he notices someone taking a photo of him, lol. It's true, I still think of  myself as Daddy's Little Girl. I am a lucky girl, my Dad is the best!

I would like to share at:

Congrats!

We had lots of (much needed) rain over the weekend, so I did manage a bit of time in my scrap space! But I also managed to get some housework done, visit some friends and check out the NEW Stampin Up Catalogue, go on two (damp but awesome) hikes - one with my boys, cook a nice dinner and finally on Sunday evening, get in the garden and get most of my veggies planted. Now THAT was a productive weekend!!!

Below is the inside of one of the Grad cards I made. I need several this year. We have friends graduating from University - one is now a medical resident in Psychiatry, and other is a Teacher and Historian and is now going on to complete his second Masters degree in Archives. My eldest son graduates from Grade 8 along with another family friend. And a close family friend is graduating from high school and going into Accounting. Lots of transition around here!

This card is for The Paper Players - tic tac toe challenge - I used the row the includes: yellow, masculine and embossing.

I would also like to share at Make My Monday Challenge where the theme for this week is "Graduation."

So glad you stopped by today!

Happy Birthday Papa - Life is Good

We have lots of spring Birthdays in our family, so I was thrilled when this CAS card idea popped into my head while working on my niece's Baby album (see previous post for the title page). It seems I forgot to photograph the inside.

Looking forward to a short work week after a productive and enjoyable May long weekend!

Cheers,
Shanna :)

Paisley

Hooray, I am an Auntie again - this time it's a Girl!!! This is the first child for my youngest brother and his wife.

Here is the title page for her album. Isn't her name just lovely? My sister and I created this album together. I will share the rest of the photos in a separate post.

She was born a couple of weeks early on April 18th. I flew home to meet her and to help throw her a Shower last weekend. She is gorgeous and perfect and Mommy and Daddy are doing well. Pretty Wow to see my Baby Brother become a Dad!

Once I decided that I was going for a visit, I decided to bring my boys as well, but kept it a secret until we arrived, so they got to meet their brand new cousin too!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Birthday Wishes - CASology

Hello!
I was thrilled to hear that I had been chosen as the Weekly Winner for CASology's Challenge #191: Washi - for entering this card. As a result, I get to be the Guest Designer for this week's challenge! How fun is that?!?

Here is the CASology prompt for this week:

And here is my card:
I used washi again! I have also upcycled some Starbuck's coffee sleeves and cut them into hearts for texture. This seems to be a "go to" for me when something needs some texture and substance.
A prompt like PINK leaves you with lots of options - hope you can play along!

Big Birthday Wishes

Yesterday, my youngest son and I participated in a 6 hour Cross-Country skiing fundraiser for Lappe Nordic Ski Club with friends! You can do 6, 12 or 24 hours. They had so much fun, they are making plans to ski the 24 hour next year!!! (not happening yet, lol!)

Would you believe that on April 2nd, it felt like -14 C with the windchill? We had fresh snow on April Fool's Day which made for great conditions, but that wind was whipping it around everywhere! After the (relatively) mild weather we've been having, we were suddenly needing to wear our wool and heavy ski mitts again!  Our team name was "Para-Normal Activity" as 4 of 6 of the participants are involved in the Para-Nordic Program - they came up with the name last year and it stuck! Someone had to be "on course" at all times, so each participant took turns skiing the course and each went out four times, so we spent quite a long time outdoors yesterday!

Here we have one of our awesome Para-Nordic guides, Danderella's Daughter and my youngest son.

Here is our youngest relay participant alongside my son who looks like a GIANT beside her! lol
 Tagging when switching skiers...

This shot includes our Team Captain and two guides. We are missing 4 guides from this photo. Look at all those smiles at the end of 6 hours of skiing! - a truly fabulous day and a great way for the children to end their ski season!

Today, it snowed again, but today I stayed tucked inside, got some laundry done and hung out in my scrap space!

I got a chance to play with some of my new stamps from Jaded Blossoms! Wow, they stamp beautifully!

I am still building up my stash, so I made a few slightly different versions of this card to have on hand.

I would like to share at CASology where the current challenge is WASHI!

I would also like to share at Seize the Birthday - water/anything goes

Cheers,

Sweet Little Thoughts

I was in need of some generic baby cards. Isn't this paper the sweetest? It was difficult to photograph so that you can tell the elephants are glittery! My tag was up-cycled from gift packaging, I just covered up the branding in the bottom right corner and added the word "sweet".

Another one for the stash! A layout I have used before but not for sometime.

I used the middle row across. Though my card doesn't say celebrate, the event is cause for celebration!

Edited to add: oops, looks like I missed the deadline.

You colour my world

Hello!
I've been playing with my Distress markers again! So much fun!

I would like to share at Inkspirational - here is the photo prompt:

While my "smooshing" mimics the reflective surface, I didn't go too literal. I went with what happens after what we see in the photo. :)

I would also like to share at Shopping Our Stash - they are looking for cards meant for men or young men. While these are not decidedly masculine, they are at minimum neutral - what do you think? While working on building the stash, I had created a few in a similar fashion (the background part at least) with distress markers, but had been using pastel colours. This time around, I was trying for something that would be more suitable for male recipients. They certainly were fun to play around with.

Happy Easter!

I was very intrigued by the fun sketch at CAS(E) this sketch and wanted to give it a try. When I came across this chocolate wrapper that I had saved last year thinking it would be fun to use, I decided to give it a go with this sketch.

I always love playing with washi tape! I'm not sure that I love it, what do you think? It was a bit tough to photograph because of the reflective quality of the bunny!

Celebrate 14!

This card felt like cheating! I had come across this cool skier graphic in a Brochure when I was visiting Whistler and knew I wanted to use it for my eldest son's Birthday card. I can't believe he is 14!
So because the graphic was so large, I simply made it the focal point of the card. I did stamp the sentiment and of course, the inside.

I would like to share at Seize the Birthday - the topping is water - my water is frozen, lol!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Easter!

Hey Foxy

I came across this stamp set way back in February while trying to figure out what to use for Hubby's Valentine's card. Just had to use this adorable fox on something. I decided to go ahead and make his Anniversary card and our Anniversary isn't until July, go me!

A peek at the inside:

Wish

I have been super busy, so the stash was super low! Here is where I started at trying to build it up again. It began without embellishments - then I decided to pull out the sequins, my latest crush!
Hmmm, what do you think? To fit with the Less is More challenge, I should keep my embellishment to a minimum, but I think I like the sequins...

you are my HAPPY

Happy Family Day to those who are enjoying this relatively new Canadian Holiday! My youngest and I went cross-country skiing with some friends. He says the best part is the cookies and the hot chocolate!

Lots of fresh air and exercise this weekend - well except for Saturday which was absolutely frigid with wind chills to boot - not complaining though as that mean some much-needed time to craft! That was an indoor day, but lots of time in the great outdoors the rest of this fabulous weekend!

Here is Hubby's Heart Day card...

Felt nice to get busy in my craft room again - starting slow and easy. I always have a hard time using stripes but these seemed to work better than the paper I had originally chosen, so there you go. When it was finished, it needed just a little something, so out came the coffee sleeves again, lol!

Just for fun, I am going to share at Little Red Wagon where the challenge is Valentine's Day.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend! Thanks for visiting!

A Wonderful Whistler Vacation!

Happy New Year! I am finally sharing some photos from our October trip to Whistler, British Columbia. There are lots of photos in this post, it was hard to choose. I have to say that this was my favourite vacation ever! It was just hubby and I. We did find ourselves thinking about how much one or both of our boys would love what we were up to at any given time, but we so enjoyed our freedom and time together. It was so good for us! We can't wait to go back!

The Fraser River Valley from the plane - breathtaking!

Ancient Cedars Trail on Cougar Mountain

My husband decided to climb inside this huge cedar

Working up the courage to zip across that there mountain valley - 1.2 kms!!!

Zip-lining was AWESOME! We felt very adventurous, lol! And we would totally do it again!

Thanks for stopping by! I have been spending lots of time in the great outdoors, in the snow. It has been leaving precious little time for creating, but hope to be getting crafty sometime soon...
