A Little Creepy......
The first time I saw these was at a Halloween Stamping Party Donna hosted several years ago. I've been wanting to try to make them ever since. Well, the party coming up this weekend was the perfect excuse! Thanks Barb (Donna's Mom) for the recipe!
Here it is in case you NEED to have some creepy Witch's fingers at your house for Halloween!
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup icing sugar
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 ¾ cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
¾ cup whole blanched almonds
1 tube red decorator gel
In bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla, beat in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and
Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Work with ¼ of the dough at a time. Roll heaping teaspoon of dough into finger shape for each cookie.
Press almond firmly into one end for nail. To form knuckle, make a small impression in about the middle and then put small slits with a paring knife. Place lightly on greased baking sheet. Bake in 325 oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until pale golden.
Let cool for 3 minutes, lift up almond, squeeze red decorator gel onto nail bed and press almond back in place so gel oozes out from underneath.
Remove from baking sheets; let cool on racks.

Sweet Baby
I've been needing to get a few baby cards done and this is one of the projects I worked on at Kraftin' Kimmie day back at the end of September. It was the first time I had used this particular Nestability and I finally used one of my felt flowers that I purchased some time ago from Stamping Up - um, no hoarding tendencies here.....well, I suppose it's more like too many embellishments (and stamps, and paper and and and...) not enough time!
I needed baby boy and baby girl cards, so I just changed the one background paper and the color of the birds.
When I went to my staff conference in September, we did the "True Colors" workshop. At first, I whined about it as I've done it twice before - though it has been years - but in all actuality, it was a bit fun. I found out that I am mostly Blue with a quite a bit of Gold. Blues tend toward the helping professions, put people before paperwork, have a tendency to wear their hearts on their sleeves and are sentimental and romantic. Golds are very organized. There is more to it of course, but that is the gist of what I remember at this point several weeks later. The best part was sitting there trying to figure out our spouse's colors - mine is definitely an Orange! Oranges are very spontaneous, do not like to follow rules, have great difficulty with routines, do not read the instructions, have difficulty staying on task without prodding and prompting and get excited about starting things, but rarely finish them. This being the perfect description of my dear husband!!! Anybody out there know your color?
I promise to share some fun photos from our Kraftin Kimmie weekend soon. Be back soon!
Shanna :)
What I used:
stamps: Love you forever - CTMH
papers: Little Yellow Bicycle - Snugglebug line
embellishments: misc ribbon, felt flower - SU

Happy Thanksgiving!
I know it makes for a rather unique birthday card, but since Donna's Birthday is always right around Thanksgiving, I thought it fitting and fun! Happy Birthday Donna! (okay, so I'm one day early) I had picked up this High Hopes turkey from the fab stamping store we visited just outside of London when we were there for Kraftin' Kimmie day and I was just itching to pair him up with this fab fall paper from Imaginisce - a recent purchase from DAT'S of course. Oh and did you hear about the sale at DAT'S in honor of Donna's Birthday - 35% off all patterned paper on Tuesday and Wednesday this week - see you there!
I am entering this one for Get Sketchy this week - love the sketch!
Keeping it short for today, see you soon!
Shanna :)
p.s. If you haven't already, don't forget to enter my Blog Candy here.

Sparkle's Challenge Week #45 - Sketch
This week's challenge at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge is a sketch! Sparkle Creations Christmas images were released this week - if you haven't already, go check them out here - they are so fun!!!
I had so much fun coloring in this image! I decided to pair it with the new Basic Grey Christmas line - Jovial! I love the old tyme feel and it has some great tiny prints!
Here is the sketch - can't wait to see your interpretation of it!
I hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! Here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend - most either celebrate Sunday or Monday. We've been invited to join some friends for their Thanksgiving feast in the country. We are bringing an apetizer, cranberry sauce and a casserole, but beyond that I do not have to cook - hooray!!! What are you doing to celebrate this weekend?
Happy Turkey Day!
Shanna :)

Elmer's Craft Glue Giveaway!!!
So, when it was time to make a Wedding card for our friends Stephanie and Chris who were married last weekend, I pulled out my fabulous stash of Elmer's products and went to town! We had a fabulous time at the Wedding - great food, great friends and us girls danced the night away, it's been quite awhile since I've done that much dancing!!! :)
I knew that I wanted a heart on the card but didn't have a Nestie in that shape, so hand cut them with my wonderful X-acto Designer Series Precision Scissors - easy peasy! I even used the old fashioned trick to fold the paper and draw half the heart, then open it up and voila! I had so much fun crumpling all my patterned paper, then flattening it out and stitching it onto the cardstock.
Elmer's CraftBond permanent tape runner was perfect for putting the basics of my project together! Tip - when stitching on your project, put glue only in the areas where you will not be stitching - otherwise your needle will become sticky and that makes for a cranky sewing machine! I dipped my chipboard letters in Versamark ink and embossed them in black before adhering them to my card with Elmer's foam mounting tape. My Elmer's glue spots also came in handy for adhering my ribbon to the card - did you know I LOVE ribbon!?!?! I also had to use some of my gapher tape from 7Gypsies. My card screamed to be distressed, so I went to town with my edge distresser as well.
If you're still with me, thanks for sticking around. I survived another week on the road - it was a great week and I accomplished a lot, but am glad to be home and can't wait to sleep in my own bed! I hope you've all had a fabulous week too!
Did you think I forgot about the candy!?!? Elmer's has generously donated three prize packages for my lucky followers. To enter, simply leave a comment and share your go-to style/color combo for Wedding cards and I will enter your name. My go-to style or design seems almost always to be a white/combo and I sometimes mix in the colors of the wedding. For this one though, I just stuck to the black and white, I think of the music note paper as romantic.
Each prize package contains:
X-ACTO:4-pack Decorative Edge Scissors, Self Healing Mat, Retractable Craft Knife, Craft Swivel Knife
CraftBond:Scrapbooking Tape, Repositionable Extra Strength Glue Stick, Wet & Dry Dual Tip Glue Pen, Permanent Tape Runner
Feel free to mention the candy on your blog if you like - we can all use more adhesive and a few extra crafting supplies!!! Blog candy will close on Saturday, October 23rd at midnight.
A big shout out to Meghann from Elmer's for inviting me to join the Crafters Challenge! I am honored to take part!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

Naughty Nite with Stephanie
And here is the inside of the card - Donna thought I should have spelled come the other way, but just couldn't bring myself to do it - she's been bugging me about it ever since!
Check out the pail that Donna made to match - it contains a few "naughty" items from one of those fun stores.... we kept it as tasteful as possible, but still fun!
Here is the set together...
A big thanks to Ellena for loaning us the stamp to use for the card and to Lee-Ann for loaning us the fun sentiments!
Stephanie and I at the party
And here are Donna and I at the party. In keeping with the theme/decor for the party (the invites had an animal print on them) Donna found these fun pyjama bottoms at Walmart and we decided it would be fun if we all wore them! Have you noticed that pyjamas are mentioned often in my posts!?!? Many of us would rather be in our pj's scrappin and stamping than just about anywhere else! The feather boas were the icing on the cake.
Hope you have a great Monday! On the road again for me - hoping to catch up with some of you on Friday. Check back with me on Thursday or Friday as I have some BLOG CANDY to share! I promise to tell you about our Kraftin Kimmie trip soon too!
Cheers,
Shanna :)
What I used:
I'm sorry that I can't remember the details of what I used here - it's early and I'm heading out of town, but I promise to get the name of the stamp company and share since I know at least a few of you are going to want to run out and find that lovely lady!
