Memories

Good morning!
One more Christmas card for the stash! This one was inspired by this fabulous card I eyed over at Laurel's place a little while ago. Seemed to me it was a great way to use up some fun patterns. There are always a couple in a line that I find more difficult to use than others. This reindeer paper was one of them.

I am going to share this over at Christmas Card Challenges. This is also for Wee Memories where the challenge "Dare to Colour" - use more than four colours on your project.

Surfing Tilda & her pooch

Friday is here!
Thanks for stopping by! Pssst, I just found out that I made Top Spool for this card over at "The Ribbon Carousel" how cool is that?

I have been wanting to make a card using this Magnolia cutie for sooo long now! I'm so glad that the challenge this week at Paper Sundaes is "Summer or Beach" because it gave me the perfect excuse!
And, the theme at "If the shoe fits" is also SUMMER, so I'll share over there as well.

If I remember correctly, my sentiment is from Whipper Snapper.

Best run, my "to do" list is long!
Cheers,
Shanna :)

Ice cream dream

Good morning!

Thanks for all your visits and kind comments over the last few days.

Today, I have to share another quick & simple card made from my "sticker stamp" find. This one is a mini card but was perfect for Chester's birthday party on Sunday.

I am going to share this at Paper Sundaes since the theme is "Beachy or Summer" and also at Wee Memories where the challenge is CAS.

Hope you've had a swell week. Mine is getting better! I ended up home for two days to try to kick this sinus infection and, thankfully, I seem to be over the worst of it now. I tried a "neti-pot" for the first time today.....has anyone else tried it? It is meant to clean out your sinuses - a great concept if it works. I was really nervous to try it, but felt good for a couple of hours after and could even breathe through my nose! I plan to try to use it regularly for a few days and see what happens, apparently you can use it twice a day.

Cheers,
Shanna :)

Celebrate the CAS way

A recent trip to Walmart with hubby - somewhere I prefer to avoid most of the time - resulted in me coming home fully equipped to make homemade rhubarb jam! and a pack of these adorable "stamp" stickers from K&Company that were on clearance for $3.00. I just had to play around with them and was sure they would result in some super quick CAS cards. Here is one I came up with....perfect for kid bday parties! I think I will repeat this one since there are two of each type of stamp sticker!

I love, love, love the bright colours on these fun stamps!

I am sharing this for this week's challenge at Less is More. The challenge is a Recipe - to use a button or ribbon.

Cheers,
Shanna :)

Shabby Christmas postcard for Cupcake!

Thank goodness for Cupcake Craft Challenges falling on Mondays - I used to really dislike Mondays, but perhaps I've changed my mind.....

This is my last week as a Guest Designer over at Cupake and what fun I've had!!! Thank you so much for inviting me to design for the month, it has kept me thinking crafty even though it's summer holiday time around here! Although I had to think the hardest about this last challenge, I think this is my favorite of the four I did. This week's challenge is Shabby + bling.

I started out the year "ahead of the game" with my Christmas cards, but am now finding myself behind with only thirty-something made, so decided I had better step it up and get some more done. This one was a start and I think I'll make a few in similar style.

My favorite part about this card is that I finally got around to playing with Tim Holtz' tissue tape. I found this fab tutorial last weekend and just had to try making a flower! I finished it off with a vintage button - one from a collection I picked up a few months ago in an antique/thrift shoppe on a trip across the boarder.

Here is a close-up of my flower - you do need to pull out the glue gun to make it all stay together, but it is well worth the effort and fun too! Now you can see my bling a little better in this shot. We had absolutely no sun the day I was photographing this one, urgh!

The image is from CTMH's Childhood Portrait D1373. This is one of my all-time favourite CTMH sets and I'm thrilled that it made it into the Fall/Winter Catalogue! The image is stamped on "adhesive-backed twill," a fun product that CTMH offered a few years back and I didn't get around to using. What a shame!

The ribbon I used was re-purposed and seemed to work well on here. Luckily I think I have enough left to make one more bow!

Now, it just so happens that the challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenges is Plaid - so I am going to share my card over there - I planned to play along either way this week, but the fact that the bonus challenge fit perfectly was simply a happy coincidence!

I am also sharing over at The Ribbon Carousel since Sparkle has challenged everyone to use buttons.

I do hope you have a great start to your week! I think I shall march myself into the medical clinic as what seemed to be "allergies" for awhile now is looking more like a sinus infection, yuck!!!

Take care,

Shanna :)

How many things can you make with rhubarb???

I have always loved rhubarb! As a child, I remember picking it and asking Mom for a bowl of sugar to dip it in - did we ever make some funny faces! lol Mom makes the best rhubarb pie! - I remember eating this a lot as a kid - Mom would make a big batch of them and often allowed us to eat it for breakfast! Ummm, ummm....

Today I am just sharing the gift we did up for our piano teacher back in June. Mom showed me how to do these fab rhubarb leaves last summer and then helped us make more this spring! They make a fabulous gift for anyone who has a garden. We used some as teacher gifts as well - the only drawback being that they are heavy for hauling to school in backpacks! lol

Since I learned to make rhubarb jam this year, I decided to pair them together. I had been keeping an eye on this great fabric at Fabricland and picked it up when Donna called to tell me it was on sale. I was then able to tie in the music theme without making the gift all about music.

Well, I do have a little rhubarb left over from the third batch of jam I made this week - I think I'll combine it with blueberries and make a crumble.....

Have a great Saturday!

Hooray it's Friday!

Today I am sharing a card for the challenge this week at Wee Memories - CAS. Today is the last day for this challenge so I almost missed it, but my week has been super busy!

I love this CTMH stamp set and I think cards like this are fun for just dropping a few lines to a friend.

Hope you have a great start to your weekend!

Shanna :)

p.s. Have you seen the new CTMH Fall/winter catalogue? They have arrived and there is some fantastic stuff in there. Can't wait to get my hands on some of it and play!

Celebrate - Wish upon a star challenge

Good day my friends! I have been busy again and not spending much time in blog land. However, I am here today to share the card I made for Cupcake Craft Challenges where I am lucky enough to be guest designer this month! This week's challenge is "Wish upon a star" - to inculde stars on your project.
Isn't this guy just the cutest?!? I couldn't resist adding the google eyes! And I finally found a project to use my new twine on!

Better run,
Hope you have a fab week!

A couple of trees and a fab deal!

Gee, I have lots to share if only I could find the time to post! Lol Life has been busy since Chester & Pickle Pants have been on VACATION! More on that later.....I have a few of what Kelley would call "bucket cards" hanging around - cards I simply haven't got around to posting yet - so here is one of them......

A pretty basic card, but I had been wanting to play with this paper and the ribbon I bought with it. Sometimes I find paper like this a bit tricky to use as I don't want to cover up too much - the larger trees seemed to fit the bill.

And, I promised to share the fab deal I got when I went thrifting with my Ma a couple of weeks ago - see photo below -

One trip to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on discount night - everything was 50% off:

  • a fab pyrex dish

  • TWENTY SEVEN books - some hardcovers, some classics and a few foreign language books (Japanese I think) that I thought might be fun to use on cards - gasp - I have never actually cut up a book to use on a crafting project - have you? It just seems so wrong - however, I can't actually read Japanese symbols....

  • oh yes, and one glass plate for the bottom of my microwave (which almost fit, but didn't in the end)

This entire pile of goodies cost me a whole $20.80!

When it comes to reading material, you just can't beat the Thrift store for good deals!

I am off to finish The Silver Chair with the boys.........

Hope you are having a great week!

When you give of yourself....

Hello Monday!

Today marks my second week as Guest Designer over at Cupcake Craft Challenges. The theme this week is a FUN one - choose your favorite theme from the last 150! Yikes - too many choices. I went with #9 - spots and dots! I do love me my polkadots, especially in fun colours like these!
I know it seems strange putting two photos, but I wasn't completely happy with the lighting of either, so I just left them both....

Sure hope your week is off to a great start!

Cheers,

Shanna :)

Under the Sea

This is the first page in an album I am pre-scrapping for our trip to the East coast this summer where we will be touring Nova Scotia and PEI. I don't know if I've ever scrapbooked an entire trip before, but I figure if I start ahead of time, maybe I'll get it done - lol. So, it doesn't have any photos since the trip hasn't actually happened yet!

The idea to begin an album early had occurred to me, but did not fully develop into a plan until Donna, our LSS owner, was gushing about the new Bo Bunny line and telling me it would be perfect for my upcoming trip photos - she is so right! So, needless to say, I bought most of the line and lots of double dot to match and got to work.

Here is a close-up of the turtle. I am making use of any of the fun graphics that are on these papers as this makes it go faster for me. In this case, the page needed a little something. I was scrapping with the girls and so it was easy to get input. Donna suggested I needed something around my sea turtle and so the circle and bling appeared. I love how it turned out!

This trip is a big deal for us since the boys have never been to the ocean - it is also the furthest we have travelled with them. I can tell they are excited since they've been telling everyone about it.

I am going to share this over at Wee Memories since the theme this week is Summertime. I am also sharing over at Lillipop Crafts where the month long challenge for July is Anything Goes.

I hope to be back soon. Take care,

Cheers,

Shanna :)

Have a blooming good day!

Is it Tuesday already??

Oh my goodness - we had a busy but wonderful holiday weekend! Around here, most people were back to regular business on Monday, but I took it off since we had my parents visiting and they left yesterday. It was an action-packed extended long-weekend: dinner out to celebrate last day of school, a Canada Day BBQ & fireworks, another BBQ with a fabulous swim & bonfire (we made smores and banana boats!), some gardening, a baseball game for Chester & Papa, crafty creations involving cement and rhubarb leaves for Pickle Pants & Nanny, and the list goes on. I also managed a quick trip to the thrift store with Nanny where I scored a great deal - but I will share that later....
This week's challenge over at Wee Memories is summertime and I thought this lil cutie fit perfectly. She certainly represents what I spend a great deal of time doing during our short summer. :) I am also sharing over at Paper Sundaes as the challenge this week is stitching.

I hope to be back soon with more crafty stuff to share!

Cupcake Craft Challenge - One Layer Card

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I am thrilled to be a guest designer at Cupcake Craft Challenges for the month of July! This week's challenge is - One layer cards!

I must admit that I have a love-hate relationship with one-layer cards! I get so worked up thinking about them, but tend to have a lot of fun playing around with them. This was no exception. I hope you like what I came up with.
As you can see, I had enough fun to carry on and make a few! In fact, I made several other styles and types that I will share later this week if I can get organized enough to post. :)

I hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Independence day to those of you who are celebrating today!

Smile and the whole world smiles with you

Good morning!

I would like to say Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! It's been a very busy week - fundraising event at work, last day of school, company arriving from out of town and the week ended with yesterday's Canada Day festivities. Whew - not a minute for blogging in there!

Well, luckily I snuck in a few minutes last Sunday to play around and came up with this card for Paper Sundaes where the challenge this week is to use at least two of the following items from their Sundae bar: purple, gems, wings, paper piercing. I am hoping this qualifies - I used gems and wings but the wings ended up on the inside as the little birdie just wasn't working on the outside. If not, that's okay because I am pleased with the result regardless.

I plan to send this to a friend who is not doing well health-wise and we want her to know that we are thinking of her. It happens that she is blind and so the different textures and dimensions will aid in her enjoyment of the card. I am going to ask a friend at work to Braille the sentiment for me and we will send it from our office. The recipient is the kind of person who is always smiling and makes others feel at ease. She also makes people laugh, easily - what a gem - I hope this will cheer her up!

And here is the inside with the little birdie I mentioned.

Best run before my company (my rents) awakes. I had better put the kettle on :) I think I actually may still have one child in bed - I think it's a record! Mind you, we didn't tuck the boys in until about 11:30 pm following the fireworks display that was followed by a huge thunderboomer! But usually when they stay up late, they wake up even earlier - my boys are early birds. :)

Cheers,

Shanna :)
