Camp Duncan

Both of my boys attended an sleep away camp this summer and LOVED it! We felt much more comfortable sending them knowing that a friend of ours plays a big part in the organizing and running of the camp. She also has two boys who attend camp and was out there the whole week keeping things running.

After attending "parent's night" it was apparent just how much work goes into organizing the camp! The kids and counsellors put on quite a performance - musical and dramatic. I had been thinking it would be nice to send her a thank you when I came across this pre-coloured Riley on my desk and the card just sort of turned into a little scene. This is not my usual style and I tend to shy away from scenes, but it seemed to suit the occasion in any case.

So is it frosty where you are? We had our first frost Thursday night, and I managed to get my cucumbers picked and my plethora of green tomatoes covered. Tonight I sat down to check email once the boys were settled in bed and noticed another frost warning! So, I picked a few more green tomatoes hoping I can figure out how to ripen them indoors and proceeded to cover most of the rest of them. We'll see what happens I guess...

Here's hoping you've had a fantastic weekend! We went for a great hike on Saturday. I then spent most of today in my kitchen - lots of cooking and baking to prep for the week. I am finding if I prep lots on Sunday, I can avoid actually preparing a whole meal on Monday and Tuesday if I am lucky! Baking also helps fill up those lunch bags for the first couple of days of the week at least.

Thanks for visiting!

Thank you

Well hello!
Thanks for stopping by. I have been absent for too long, from blogging and from my craft room! It has been forever since I've been able to play along at Inspired By, so I was determined to make it happen. This is what I came up with.

And here is the Inspiration photo. Keeping this CAS and playing around with washi and chipboard was a great way to ease back into the craftspace!

Here's hoping you have a happy start to your weekend!
Shanna :)

What I used:
washi tape from a variety of companies
chipboard stickers from studio G
spritzer tool & copics

Get well etc.

Well hello!
After a long time away, I finally was able to spend some time in my craft room this weekend! Hooray!

Ironically, these are not cards made this past weekend, they were made many weeks ago. I had uploaded the photos but had not yet posted them. So, here they are. A couple of quick ones for the stash. I was trying to step outside of my comfort zone and try some different colour combos.

Thanks so much for visiting! I do hope to be back soon with some new projects to share.

Have a fabulous day!
Shanna :)

What I used:
crossword stamp from SU
random washi tape
Tim Holtz "Life's Possibilities"
rub-ons
Bo Bunny ribbon

Home-made postcard FUN!

Hello - long time no blog! That seems to be a trend... Well, this, that and the other has been happening, so what can I say? Finally getting around to posting these fun postcards ( I LOVE to send postcards, and receive them of course!) that Doodle pants and I made several weeks ago.

I first saw the idea here on Angry Chicken - she has so many fun ideas! Basically, you lay down a few layers of packing tape sticky side up, lay your bits and bobs down (including the written part and address), cover up with packing tape, sticky side down, cut to size and add your stamp.

My son sent one to his penpal in Banff, but I also sent one to my sister. This way I was able to check that it actually arrived in her postbox with no problems. It was a great way to play around with bits of this and that that was hanging around my craft table.

I am hoping to be back soon.

pinwheels

A card I made awhile back and didn't get around to posting.

I used some ancient Easter paper and the pinwheel die cut from SU.

Thought I had better post since my son commented that it had been too long, lol!

Cheers,
Shanna :)

Thinking of you CAS

Just another quick CAS card for the stash. I love the simplicity of this one - I think it was a sketch a few months back, but can't remember for sure where from, but it's a great way to use up some patterned paper from the scrap bin!

Happy Sunday! It is wet and a bit rainy here (rained all night), so we are going to go see "Monsters University" this afternoon. We had a great family day yesterday. All four of us hiked out to Little Falls at Kakabeka Provincial Park! It was a hot and humid day, a challenging hike and we probably should have gone out a bit earlier to avoid the heat, but the hike was well worth it. Here is what awaited us...

Well worth it!
Have a great evening!

Congrats

Here we have a couple more CAS cards I managed for the current challenge at Little Red Wagon. The CAS seems to be getting me back into my scrap room at least! I do love to have baby cards on hand and ready to send when required so these will come in handy.

Thanks for stopping by!

What I used:
CTMH - It's a Zoo (elephant), For Every Occasion (sentiment), Circle Around (dotted line)
