A Bridal Shower gift for the kitchen

Long time no see. Yikes, life has been busy since I last posted - amongst other things, Thunder Bay was declared under a State of Emergency due to severe flooding almost two weeks ago - our city and surrounding areas have now been declared a Disaster Area. Thankfully our home is still dry, but not so for so many families. I've managed to fit in two work trips in two weeks. This last one meant almost an entire week away, it was a big one, but it went well. I am happy to be home, but I'm bushed and still trying to get into the groove.
Anyhow, this is the recipe album I created for my soon-to-be sister-in-law for her Bridal Shower. It has sort of become a family tradition beginning with my little sis a few years back. When I was married, my cousin Charlene had a "Pampered Chef" bridal shower for me and asked each guest to share one favourite recipe. She placed them all in a cute little photo album. I LOVED it and still find it so handy!

When I was planning my little sister's shower, I decided to do the same sort of thing and take it one step further. I covered the photo album with fun scrapbook paper and embellished. I stamped up recipe cards and mailed them with the invites and the request for the recipe. At the shower, I photographed each guest with the bride. I also asked each guest to write some "words of wisdom" on a pre-cut piece of CS to insert in between the recipe and the corresponding photo. You can sort of get the idea from the shot below. This particular album is for my almost sister-in-law whom I adore. She is an elementary school teacher, a musician, an artist and she loves to bake! This time, I must admit, I was a bit lazy and used store-bought recipe cards. However, they were perfect and inexpensive and saved so much time! The photo happens to be of myself and my sister and was not taken at the shower, but I added it to give you the idea.

I would like to share my project over at Inspired By. I am going with the baking/sweet aspects from the inspiration photo though my colour scheme is very different.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Shanna :)

  1. That's a neat idea! I have a niece getting married in August. I think I may have to do something similar for her upcoming bridal shower. TFS
