Deck the Halls in March?

Well yes, but first I should say Happy St. Patty's Day! If I drank beer, I suppose I might enjoy it green on St. Patty's day....I once decided to make my boys green eggs and ham (ya know, i added spinach), yeah, so it didn't go over so well....onto the card...

Merry here would like to show you her perfectly browned turkey complete with lemon slices and a sprig of rosemary! I am planning a class for April and this is one of the cards I've been playing with. I thought I would try to work the "technique for having an image overhang your nesties" into the class. I'm sure there is a proper name for this technique, but I sure don't know it if there is....please enlighten me if you happen to know it. :) Otherwise, I may be forced to come up with something myself....

Now that I look at my photo, my background paper and matting looks a bit green! Yikes, it's actually brown - CTMH cocoa brown to be specific, oh well! Anyhow, I've decided this is probably not the card for the class since it is looking a bit more like a Thanksgiving card than a Christmas card and my guess is that I won't have too many takers on a Thanksgiving card class in April - I would have been pushing my luck with Christmas no?

After playing around with a different design idea, I ended up using the great sketch over at Friday Sketchers. (Oops, looks like I missed the deadline for Friday Sketchers - it's one thing to get a card done for a challenge, but qutie another to get it posted in time, kwim? It's a wonder I ever manage it!) I am also going to enter this into the challenge over at Kraftin Kimmie this week which is "anything goes!" Did I tell you that I won something last week for entering the challenge...apparently I will be getting a surprise in the mail!!! I love going to the mailbox and finding something other than BILLS! :) Woo hooo!!!

And, since this is a Christmas Card, I'm going to share it over at Christmas Card Challenges this week as well. This card increases my Christmas card stash for this year to 26! I am super happy about this!!!
Well, thanks for stopping by! Hanging with my boys tomorrow as it is March Break here - we don't have any big plans - just the way I like it - maybe we'll make it pyjama and game day!
Shanna :)

  7. Great card, love the image & great layout! I think the technique you are talking about is something I've heard others call "out of the box" technique and I think there is even a tutorial on SCS.
